Knitting has been with me most of my life. My grandmother (I was born and raised in Germany) taught me how to knit when I was about 6 years old. I’d love sitting with her, learning from her. In 3rd grade I met a teacher that sadly made me put down the needles for a few years, but it has always stayed with me over the years. In my late 20s I started picking up the needles with more consistency again, eventually transitioning into my own designs. 

I’m a therapist by trade, but I started out with an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts. The combination of the two definitely shows in my knit designs. The experience of creating and finishing a project, to me, should be meditative and relaxing, something to balance out the stressors of day to day life. Creatively, I find inspiration in nature’s patterns and I design starting with two intertwined processes: painting and swatching.
